Senior Mechanical Engineer-Snack
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer position is an advanced design position responsible for overall system design and/or complex mechanism design. This position also functions as a technical resource for other team members and may have limited supervisory responsibilities. Further responsibilities include evaluating not only the functionality/performance of own designs but also those of other team members.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision from initial task assignments/objectives to completion of the project.
- Devises new approaches to design issues to obtain optimum solutions.
- Thorough understanding of product certification requirements (UL, CE, etc.) to enable design conformance.
- Good understanding of reliability, concepts of life predictions, mean time between failure calculations, and design for experiments.
- Participates in the creation of internal processes and procedures designed to ensure success in achieving goals and objectives.
- Performs tolerance analyses and other design techniques to ensure the form, fit, and function of mating parts and complete assemblies.
- Maintains follow-up documentation to report the performance of product engineering and improve product designs.
- Participates in R&D exercises.
- Participates in competitive analyses.
- Proficient at performing all functions of Designer, Mechanical role.
- Maintain focus on continuous improvement through researching and sourcing innovative, cost-efficient business solutions and making recommendations to upper management.
- Adhere to all Company policies, safeguard the company's interests and act in an ethical and legal manner as well as report all violations of Company policies and procedures to appropriate management.

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include concentrated attention, close vision, far vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to bring object into sharp focus.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Master's Degree preferred.
Experience
- Minimum eight years total experience in progressively responsible positions in the field of specialty.
- Minimum four years experience in a design-engineering environment dealing with electro-mechanical development projects.
- Proficient designing molded plastic parts, sheet metal parts, and assemblies.
- Minimum of four years experience with solid modeling CAD development tools.
- Experience with Solid Works, preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of various types of manufacturing equipment and the limitations.
- Must be able to design for reliability in harsh environments and for agency (UL, CE, FCC) approvals.
- Minimum two years working experience in a lead role in a mechanical design team.
- Experience working with other engineers and designers to define constraints and requirements.
- Experience in LEAN environment, a plus.
- Proven analytical skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
- Solid organizational abilities, attention to detail.
- Proficient in the knowledge and use of MS Office (Word, Excel).
