Production Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Production Facilitator is responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of a production line or a specified production area in the Fabrication Department, Assembly Department, or Paint Area.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise the personnel on a production line or in a specified production area in a Manufacturing department.
- Maintain focus on continuous improvement through the application of lean manufacturing principles.
- Monitors and is responsible for fabricating or assembling, fitting, shaping, aligning, calibrating and adjusting parts and/or mechanisms to produce parts, sub-assemblies or final products that meet established tolerances or product operating requirements.
- Monitor the operation of manufacturing tools, machinery, or systems.
- Schedules, makes work assignments, disciplines and is responsible for meeting quantity requirements and maintaining quality standards.
- Recommends manufacturing methods, procedures and changes in line or departmental layout.
- Establishes and monitors safe working conditions and practices.
- Trains employees and performs a variety of activities to maintain positive employee relations.
- Maintains required production records.
- Develop and maintain required production reports and submit required reports on a timely basis.
- Maintain training and development plans for direct reports and overall department.
- Adhere to all Company policies, safeguard the company's interests and act in an ethical and legal manner as well as report all violations of Company policies and procedures to appropriate management.
Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, stoop, talk, hear, reach, grasp with hands, feel, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, push and pull to move objects.
- The employee must exert up to 5 pounds of force occasionally and/or a light amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Rarely, the individual is required to exert an average to heavy amount of force, 25 to 60 pounds, to lift, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job range from occasional attention to extremely demanding attention, as well as and close vision, far vision, color vision, field of vision, depth perception, and the ability to bring an object into sharp focus.
Working Conditions: Working conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
- Subject to both inside and outside working conditions.
- Exposure to extreme heat sufficient to cause marked bodily discomfort.
- Exposure to noise sufficient enough to cause worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
- Physical conditions include proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals, and vibration.
- Subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes and dust but not to the extent of being disagreeable.
- Subject to oils and/or other cutting fluids, but not strong enough to be disagreeable.
Education:
- Associate’s Degree in related area, required. Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum three to five years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, required.
- Thorough knowledge of manufacturing methods and techniques.
- Strong team formation and supervisory skills.
- Proficient in the use of Word and Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, to include presentation skills.
- Proficient in multi-tasking.
The following qualifications are in addition to the above:
Fabrication Supervisors
- Three to five years fabrication experience including shearing, punching, forming spot welding, and mig welding.
Paint Supervisor
- Three to five years powder paint experience.
Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids that may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position: Computer, Microsoft Office Suite, Calculator, Telephone, Fax, Scanners, printers, AS400
