Manager, After Market Parts and Service
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager, After Market Parts & Service is responsible for serving as the central contact for most technical concerns pertaining to Crane Equipment and for the profitability and sales growth of the parts business. This position is the conduit between Engineering/Manufacturing and the customer base. This position is further responsible for delegating all field concerns to the appropriate personnel and departments, providing insight to all departments concerning the CMS product line, and developing improved competitive methods of communication to our customer base.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform all duties of subordinates, as needed.
- Analyze/Develop all perspective growth opportunities for the Service function of Crane MS.
- Establish technical relationships between suppliers and CMS Service.
- Assist Quality Team providing solutions for field/manufacturing issues.
- Analyze ECOs to determine field communication needs.
- Assist Sales in communicating development needs to engineering.
- Provide technical assistance to all departments concerning historical documentation.
- Improve capabilities of Field Personnel to address changes within software and equipment.
- Maintain/Program Service database to track customer calls.
- Liaison between field service and accounting/parts for software concerns.
- Assist Engineering during development phases of future equipment.
- Communicate urgent field issues to multiple departments for rapid resolution.
- Assist Engineering/Purchasing locating suppliers for parts concerning legacy equipment.
- Maintain all service documentation for future reference.
- Improve communication channels between engineering and service departments.
- Assist Parts compiling AS400 structures to development Conversion Kits.
- Distribute Service responsibilities within the service team.
- Provide customer insight to multiple departments concerning field issues.
- Central contact for field issues concerning distribution Channels (GPL).
- Train service/parts departments utilizing computer software applications.
- Report BCMS phone data to upper management for analysis.
- Assist e-commerce to develop service web page/on-line training series.
- Organize all service aspects of trade shows.
- Achieve profitability targets for parts business by constant evaluation and streamlining of business processes.
- Increase parts sales by marketing programs to our customers.
- Increase market penetration of parts sales in the St. Louis metro area.
- Establish industry presence at trade shows using parts only booth.
- Establish and manage part obsolescence process.
- Develop and manage departmental budget.
- Interview, hire, and train internal service personnel.
- Maintain training and development plans for direct reports and overall department.
- Maintain focus on continuous improvement through researching and sourcing innovative, cost efficient business solutions.
- Adhere to all Company policies, safeguard the company's interests and act in an ethical and legal manner as well as report all violations of Company policies and procedures to appropriate management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Associates Degree in Electronics, required. Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field,
preferred.
Experience
- Minimum seven to ten years progressively responsible experience in a similar position.
- Electronics and shipping and receiving experience at the management level.
- Proven project management skills through teams.
- Manufacturing experience (operator/Line Leader), ECO experience/ Quality Control
- Proven technical writing skills
- Prior AS400 experience/ manufacturing level a plus.
- Excellent budgeting skills (working with profit and loss, etc).
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated customer service skills and phone presence.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
