PRODUCTION PLANNER-FABRICATION
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Production Planner is responsible for supporting the production needs in his/her assigned area(s), by issuing shop orders, scheduling and prioritizing production, sending requests to Purchasing to place an order or request delivery information on and existing order. This position is further responsible for keeping the Manager, Production Control and production supervision advised and updated on production and inventory issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze and update the Fabrication Hot List, Purchased Part Hot List, and Paint List.
- Check Receiving for Plated Parts.
- Review negative balance report and provide recommendations.
- Review Manufacturing Shortage Report and take the appropriate action.
- Review Suggested Work Order Report and take the appropriate action.
- Analyze Completed Work Order Report to control inventories.
- Analyze component shortages (purchased, Fabricated, Assemblies, Paint, Plating) and provide recommendations.
- Review and release packing and instruction materials.
- Respond to various questions and requests from production supervisors. Lead persons, Master Scheduler, and manager.
- Review ECOs.
- Participate in annual physical inventory activities.
- Maintain focus on continuous improvement through researching and sourcing innovative, cost efficient business solutions.
- Adhere to all Company policies, safeguard the company's interests and act in an ethical and legal manner as well as report all violations of Company policies and procedures to appropriate management.
PHYSICAL/VISUAL ACTIVITIES OR DEMANDS: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, hear, grasp with hands, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, reach, and push and pull to move objects.
- The employee must exert up to 5 pounds of force frequently and/or a light amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Occasionally, the individual is required to exert a light amount of force, 25 pounds, to lift, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include concentrated attention, as well as close vision, and the ability to bring an object into sharp focus.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Working conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job:
- Inside working conditions.
- Occasional exposure to extreme heat and cold sufficient to cause marked bodily discomfort.
- Occasional exposure to fumes and dust, but not to the point of being disagreeable.
- Subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes and dust but not to the extent of being disagreeable.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High School Diploma plus additional specialized training, equivalent to two (2) years of college or technical training.
Experience
- Minimum three to five years experience in general production control, scheduling, inventory control, expediting, and coordination of production activities.
- Demonstrated ability in scheduling.
- Broad knowledge of manufacturing, production, and inventory control functions.
- Good general knowledge of the inter-departmental relationships of an organization, and cross-functional team activities.
- Proficient in the use of Word and Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience working in a union environment, preferred.
