POSITION SUMMARY:
The Test Engineer is responsible for the design, organization, and conduct of detailed product testing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in an engineering work cell, (mechanical engineer, design engineer and test engineer), providing engineering input on assigned subsystems and formulating supporting test plans.
- Be proficient in performing all the tests necessary in proving performance and reliability of assigned product line or subsystem.
- Write detailed test plans for assigned subsystem or product line.
- Write detailed test reports outlining results and modifications tested.
- Design and have built reliability test fixtures to support test plan.
- Assist or lead work cell in problem identification, correction and verification.
- Assure that no new product or change to an existing product is ever shipped to the field without adequate documentation proving reliability and performance.
- Participate in manufacturing Kaizen events to improve the value stream.
- Participate in departmental Kaizen events to improve processes and or products as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
Experience
- Zero to three years experience in a technical environment.
- Knowledgeable in reliability concepts such as life cycle predictions, mean time between failure calculations, design of experiments and other reliability engineering tools.
- Experience in team problem solving and project development.
- Knowledge of Kaizen and other process improvement processes.
- Broad knowledge of and experience with electro-mechanical components and assemblies.
- Broad knowledge of and experience in organization and conduct of detailed product testing.
- Good understanding of standard test practices.
- Basic understanding of the product certification process (i.e. UL, CE Mark, CSA, etc.)
- Ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proven analytical skills, and solid organizational abilities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
- Proficient in the knowledge and use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids that may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position: Computer, Microsoft Office Suite, SolidWorks or similar design software, LabView or similar testing programs, calculator, telephone, fax, scanners, printers, strain gauges.
